Abstract
The essay examines the figure of Edoarda Masi, focusing in particular on her reading of the cultural revolution and her analyses of the Chinese anti-imperialist line. Following her period of studies in China in the late 1950s, the scholar began a collaboration with Raniero Panzieri and became a central figure of the New Left in the 1960s and 1970s. The essay analyzes mainly her writings in «Quaderni Rossi» and «Quaderni Piacentini», with the aim of showing her original reading of the events of the Chinese Cultural Revolution, read as a moment of class struggle, and her contribution to the theory of anti-imperialism, which extends beyond the decades in question and reaches the early 2000s, in consonance with figures of the Chinese New Left born after the end of Maoism.
