Abstract

The essay analyses the paratext of translations into Italian of Russian texts published in «Il Politecnico», a periodical edited by Elio Vittorini and issued by the Einaudi from 1945 to 1947, with the aim of outlining the role played by this set of textual materials in shaping the poetics and editorial direction of the magazine. In Italy, after fascism, the pressing necessity for a new culture was also seen in the need to take into account the voices coming from other cultures with the main objective of defining the relationship between intellectuals and parties. In the editorial choices of «Il Politecnico», Soviet literary texts were best suited to perform this function in a national framework marked by an absolutely new political scene.
